  • 1937 Artist Amar Dawod was born in the Salhiya district of the capital, Baghdad, Iraq.
  • 1964 - 1974 He completed his primary, middle school studies in Baghdad.
  • 1974 - 1979 He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and obtained a diploma in graphic arts.
  • 1976/1977 He worked for the magazine "My Magazine" and "Al-Muzmar" Newspaper.
  • 1981 He worked for the Emirati magazine "Majid" and with the "Al Fata Al Arabi" House in Beirut, and since that time he has written several articles on art that were published in both paper and electronic newspapers.
  • 1982 - 1987 He obtained a master’s degree of Graphic Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poland.
  • 1982 He held a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of the Academy of Arts in Poland.
  • 1983 He participated in the exhibition "Small Graphic Form" at the BWA Gallery in Lodz, Poland, and the Xylon 9 exhibition at the Xylon Museum in Winterthur, Switzerland, the International Biennale "Small Size Papers" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium.
  • 1984 He held a solo exhibition at BWA Gallery in Lodz, Poland, participated in the 10th World Graphic Triennial in Krakow, Poland, and won the Excellence Award.
  • 1985 He participated in an exhibition at the UMC Center for Fine Arts in Boulder, Colorado, in the United States of America.
  • 1986 He participated in the 11th World Graphic Triennial in Krakow, Poland, and won the Excellence Award.
  • 1987 He moved to live and work in Sweden and participated in the international biennale "Small Size Papers" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium and the Xylon 10 exhibition at the Xylon Museum in Winterthur in Switzerland.
  • 1988 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery Linjen in Västervik and another one at Gallery Kretsen in Södertälje, Sweden.
  • 1989 He held a solo exhibition at the House of Culture in Västervik, Sweden. He participated in the international biennale "Small Size Papers" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium and the Graphic Triennial in Fredrikstad in Norway, and won the second prize.
  • 1990 He worked as a painter in the Swedish press and advertising houses and participated in the Switzerland International Graphic Triennial - Intergrafik 90 in Berlin and Xylon 9 exhibition at the Xylon Museum in Winterthur in Switzerland.
  • 1991 He studied the art of animation at the Animation House in Sweden, and held two solo exhibitions, one at Gallery Linjen in Västervik and the other at Gallery Ängeln in Lund. He participated in the international biennale "Small Size Papers" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium, the Graphic Art Biennale in Ljubljana and the Primo Internationale Biella - Per Lincione in Italy.
  • 1992 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery T in Lodz and participated in the Fifth International Painting Triennial in Wroclaw, Poland, and the Graphics Triennial in Fredrikstad, Norway.
  • 1994 He participated in the exhibition "Relief / Plan / Images" at the Center for Engraving Arts in Belgium.
  • 1996 He held a solo exhibition at the House of Culture in Västervik, Sweden.
  • 1997 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery Arch in Kalmar and one at the Hjärne Gallery in Helsingborg and the Xylon Museum + Werkstätten – Schwetzingen in Germany.
  • 1998 He participated in the international biennale "Small Size Papers" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium.
  • 2000 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery Arch in Kalmar and one at Gallery Storgatan 31. He participated in the Fifth International Biennale of Small-Scale Engraving Prints in Chamalières, France.
  • 2002 He held three solo exhibitions at the art hall in Oskarshamn, and at the art hall of Vetlanda, Sweden. He participated in the international biennale "Small Size Papers" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium.
  • 2003 He held a solo exhibition at the Kalmar Museum of Art (Artist of the Month) in Kalmar, Sweden. He participated in the exhibition of "Arab Childrens’ Books Illustrators" at the Institute for the Arab World in Paris and an exhibition "La Résurrection’ de Piero della Francesca" at the Museum of Small Formats in Sanspolcro, Tuscany and Viroinval, Italy.
  • 2004 He held a solo exhibition at the Högsby Art Hall in Högsby. He participated in the 12th International Biennale at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium.
  • 2005 He participated in an exhibition "5 Artists from Västervik" at the Eksjö Museum in Sweden, the "Contemporary Iraqi Book Art" Exhibition at the North Texas University Art Gallery in Denton, Texas, the "Summer of Love" Exhibition in Sweden, and the "Contemporary Iraqi Book Art" Exhibition at the Carleton College of Art Gallery in America.
  • 2006 He participated in the Sigma Gallery exhibition in Sweden, the International Biennale, "Small Sizes Paper" at the Museum of Small Formats in Belgium, the exhibition "Art without Borders" at the Ronneby Cultural Center in Ronneby, Sweden, and the Light Installation, Light Project in Kalmar, Sweden.
  • 2007 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery Storgatan 31. He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art exhibition at the Pomegranate Gallery in Soho, USA, and the exhibition "Paintings of Lillemor Bokström, Amar Dawod and Jan Wiberg" in Gallery Järnet in Sweden.
  • 2008 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery 55 in Västervik. He participated in an exhibition of "Art from the Kalmar Region" at the Kalmar Art Museum in Sweden.
  • 2009 He held a solo exhibition "Artist of the Month" at the Torsås Art Association in Torsås, Sweden. He participated in the "Autumn Salon" exhibition at Gallery Gamleby in Sweden and the exhibition "Three Recipients of State Grant for Artist" in Konstrum, Sweden.
  • 2010 He held a solo exhibition at Karim Gallery in Amman, Jordan, and participated in the "Beyond the War" exhibition at Leila Taghinia-Milani Heller Gallery in New York.
  • 2011 He participated in the "Art in Iraq Today Part III" exhibition in at Meem Gallery in Dubai.
  • 2012 He participated in an exhibition with a Swedish artist at the Lilla Gallery in Sweden, and the "Art in Iraq Today" exhibition at the Beirut Exhibition Center in Beirut.
  • 2013 He held a solo exhibition at Teater Gallery in Kalmar, Sweden and a solo exhibition at Meem Gallery in Dubai, UAE.
  • 2014 He held a solo exhibition at Meem Gallery in Dubai, UAE, and participated in the exhibition "Ceramics by Eva Bengtsson and Paintings by Amar Dawod" at the Art Hall in Västervik, Sweden.
  • 2015 He held a solo exhibition at Mot Strömmen Gallery in Norrköping, Sweden, and participated in the Autumn Salon exhibition in Gamleby, Sweden.
  • 2017 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Miniatures" at Karim Gallery in Amman, Jordan.
  • 2018 He held a solo exhibition at Katara Cultural Village, building 5 in Doha, Qatar
  • 2019 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Insinuation" at Karim Gallery in Amman, Jordan, and participated in an exhibition of contemporary Arab ceramics "Objects of Imagination" at the Hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Amman and the exhibition "Contemporary Artists from Iraq" at Ras Al-Ain Gallery in Amman, Jordan.
  • He lives and works full-time in Sweden.
