  • Iraqi painter born in 1927 in Istanbul, Turkey and is the only daughter of the well-known artist Haj Mohammed Selim among seven brothers, her birth name was Fatima Naziha (according to an Ottoman habit to name the child with two names, first is after an esteemed historical person, the second is the daily name). Her siblings Jewad, Rashad, and Suad Selim.
  • 1934 - 1944 Completed her primary, middle, and high school studies in Baghdad.
  • 1944 - 1947 Studied and obtained a diploma from IFA, Baghdad.
  • 1947 - 1951 The first Iraqi woman who studied and graduated from the National School of Fine Arts (Beaux Arts).
  • 1950s - 2000s Trained and inspired many Iraqi artists and held dozens of solo exhibitions as well as participated in many exhibitions in Iraq and abroad.
  • 1951 - 1982 Taught at IFA, Baghdad.
  • 1982 A retrospective honorary exhibition was held for her at INMMA, Baghdad.
  • 2003 Had a stroke that left her paralyzed.
  • Feb. 15th, 2008 Passed away at the age of eighty-one and was buried in Sheikh Maarouf cemetery in Al-Karkh, Baghdad, Iraq.
