  • 1937 Artist Bahijah Nuri Mahdi Al-Hakim was born in Karbala Governorate, Iraq.  She lived in a large family dominated by an atmosphere of love and warmth, which settled in her memory, to be reflected later in her paintings.
  • She is the mother of three, journalist Hussain Al-Tajer, well-known plastic artist Ali Al-Tajer, and plastic artist Ward Al Tajer.
  • 1952 She completed her studies at Al-Adhamiya High School in Baghdad, Iraq.
  • 1957 She graduated from the Art Dept. in Queen Alia College in Baghdad, Iraq.
  • 1957 – 1981 She taught art classes in several schools in Karbala, including the House of Teachers and Home Arts, Al-Wihda High School, the Teachers Institute in Al-Karkh, Baghdad, and Al-Khansa High School in Basra, and she was appointed as an educational supervisor too.
  • 1982 - 1994 She was appointed the director of the Pioneer Artists Museum in Baghdad, Iraq.
  • She was a member of the Baghdad Group for Modern Art.
  • She held administrative positions in many important art halls, such as Al-Rasheed Hall.
  • Her works were displayed in the halls of the Baghdad Art Center, some government departments, and presidential palaces.
  • She held many solo exhibitions and participated in most of the art exhibitions held inside and outside Iraq.
  • 11/November/2008 The artist passed away at seventy-one after a struggle with illness in Amman, Jordan.
