  • 1968 Artist Serwan Baran was born in the capital, Baghdad, Iraq.
  • 1975 - 1985 He completed his primary, middle and secondary school studies in Baghdad.
  • 1986 - 1990 He studied and graduated from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon.
  • 1990 He won the first youth award.
  • 1991 He held a solo exhibition at Al-Riwaq Gallery, Baghdad.
  • 1994 He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Festival in Baghdad and won the second prize.
  • 1995 He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Festival in Baghdad and won the Gold Award.
  • 1997 He held a solo exhibition at Zaman Gallery in Beirut, Lebanon.
  • 1999 He held a solo exhibition in Cairo, Egypt and participated in the Cairo Biennale and won the Appreciation Medal.
  • 2000 He held a solo exhibition at Dar Al-Anda in Amman and participated in the exhibition "The Magic of Moments in Nature and Place" at Gallery Art in Baghdad.
  • 2001 He participated in the September Summer Academy held by the House of Arts in Amman.
  • 2002 He participated in the third Baghdad International Biennale in Baghdad and won the prize of appreciation and the Al-Mahres International Festival in Tunisia and won the Golden Medal.
  • 2003 He left Iraq and traveled to live and work in Amman, Jordan and held a solo exhibition in the Dominican Republic.
  • 2005 He participated in the Modern Iraqi Art Exhibition in Syria.
  • 2006 He held a solo exhibition at Al-Orfali Gallery in Amman, Jordan.
  • 2007 He held a solo exhibition at Tche Wa Gallery, Tokyo, Japan.
  • 2008 - 2009 He participated in the "10X10" exhibition at Al-Orfali Gallery in Amman.
  • 2010 He held a solo exhibition at Gallery Art House in Damascus, Syria.
  • 2011 He held a solo exhibition at Saradam Gallery in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, a solo exhibition at Gallery Dohuk in Iraq, and a solo exhibition entitled "Whispers" at Al-Orfali Gallery in Amman, and participated in the Kuwait Biennale in Kuwait.
  • 2012 He participated in an exhibition at Al-Bareh Gallery of Fine Arts in Bahrain and Qatar, and the first Casablanca Biennale in Morocco.
  • 2013 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Elected" was held at Matisse Gallery in Marrakech, Morocco, a solo exhibition entitled "On The Edge" at the Nabadh Gallery in Amman. He left Jordan and traveled to settle and work in Beirut, Lebanon.
  • 2016 He participated in the exhibition "Iraqi Painters" of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association and the Lebanese Association of Painting and Sculpture in Beirut.
  • 2018 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Canines" at Ajyal Gallery in Beirut.
  • 2019 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Fatherland" in Venice and participated in the 58th Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy.
  • 2019 – 2020 He participated in an exhibition "Objects of Imagination – Contemporary Arab Ceramics" in Jordan National Museum Gallery with the participation of forty Arab artists from different Arab countries in Amman.
  • 2020 He held a solo entitled "An Indelible Memory" was held at the Egypt Art Gallery in Cairo, and a solo exhibition entitled "A Harsh Beauty" at Saleh Barakat Gallery in Beirut.
  • He held several solo exhibitions and participated in many art exhibitions inside and outside Iraq.
  • He lives and works full-time in art in Beirut, Lebanon.
