  • 1939 Artist Salman Al-Basri was born in in the Abu Al Khasib area in the city of Basra, south of Iraq.
  • During his childhood, he lived in the Al-Ashar District the center of the city,  and his artistic talent began to appear at an early age.
  • 1960 He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
  • He worked as an art teacher in drawing in several schools and institutes in Basra Governorate and also worked as an official in the design department at the Film and Theater Foundation in Baghdad.
  • 1963 He held his first solo exhibition in Basra.
  • 1966 He held his second solo exhibition at Al-Wasiti Gallery in Baghdad.
  • 1969 He participated in the Basra Modern Art Group exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 1970 He participated in the Shadow Group exhibition at the Artists Association Hall in Basra.
  • 1971 He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition, in cooperation with the Iraqi Artists Association in Kuwait, and the Arab Plastic Artists Exhibition in Baghdad.
  • 1973 He participated in the fifteenth exhibition of the Plastic Artists Association in the hall of the Plastic Artists Association in Baghdad, the first Arab Biennale in Baghdad, and the retrospective exhibition of Iraqi art in the hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 1974 He participated in the cultural festival of Al-Thawra newspaper in Baghdad.
  • 1975 He participated in an exhibition with Shaker Hamad, Ala Bashir and Muhammad Radi at the National Museum of Modern Art and the Gallery of Arab Artists in Baghdad.
  • 1978 He held a solo exhibition at the Free Studio Gallery in Kuwait.
  • 1979 He held a solo exhibition at the Hall of the Cultural Center in Basra, and the second Arab Biennale in Morocco.
  • 1980 He held a solo exhibition at Al-Riwaq Hall in Baghdad, and participated in the seventh anniversary of the ruling party exhibition at the Hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 1991 He participated in the Wasiti Festival in Baghdad.
  • He obtained a doctorate in plastic art in the concept of quality and the formation of painting and authored several books that are being taught in institutes and colleges of fine arts in Iraq, including one on anatomy.
  • 2016 He participated in the exhibition "Iraqi Painters" in cooperation between the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association and the Lebanese Association of Painting and Sculpture in Beirut.
  • The artist lives with his family in the Netherlands.
  • Member of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association.
  • Member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate.
