1966 Artist Mahmoud Obaidi was born in the capital, Baghdad, Iraq.
1973 - 1983 He completed his primary, middle and secondary school studies in Baghdad.
1984 - 1988 He studied and graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
1989 He held a solo exhibition at the art association gallery in Tunis.
1990 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Cat’s Factory" at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1991 He immigrated Iraq to Amman, where he held a solo exhibition at Alia Gallery in Amman, Jordan, and then decided at the same to travel to Canada to study and work.
1992 He held a solo exhibition at Alia Gallery in Amman and participated in the 8th Al-Wasiti Festival in Baghdad.
1994 He held a solo exhibition at Abaad Gallery in Amman and a solo exhibition in Darat al-Funun in Amman.
1995 He held a solo exhibition at Darat al-Funun in Amman.
1998 He held a solo exhibition entitled "The Dome Project" at the Zavitz Gallery, Guelph, Canada and in India.
1999 He obtained a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Guelph, Canada, and a Diploma in New Media and Film from Toronto and Los Angeles, respectively. He held a solo exhibition in the Ward-N Gallery, in Soho, New York, USA, and participated in the Millennium Art Collection Show in Hague, Netherlands.
2000 He participated in the exhibition "Journeys with Contemporary Arts in the Arab World - Contemporary Artists from Mesopotamia" at Darat Al Funun - Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation in Amman.
2002 He held a solo exhibition entitled "The Ramona Project" at 4 Walls Gallery in Amman.
2003 He participated in the exhibition "Iraqi Art Now: Looking Out, Looking In" at the De Paul Museum of Art in Chicago, USA.
2004 He participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.
2005 He participated in the Iranian International Biennale and the exhibition "Creative Improvisations - Seven Iraqi Artists" at Bisan Gallery in Doha, Qatar, Al-Riwaq Gallery in Manama, Bahrain and the 4 Walls Gallery in Amman, and the exhibition "Dafatir: Contemporary Iraqi Art for Book" at the Art Gallery of the University of North Texas and Denton and other sites in the United States of America and the exhibition "Paris - Baghdad: Iraqi Artists" at the Montparnasse Museum in Paris, France.
2006 He participated in the exhibition "Golden Leaves Book" at Gallery Jouy in Switzerland and the T Cazacrou Foundation in Frankfurt, Germany.
2009 He participated in the exhibition "Turtles - Iraqi Artists in Exile" at the Station Museum of Contemporary Art in Houston, Texas, and the "Modernism and Iraq" exhibition at Wallach Art Gallery at Columbia University in New York.
2010 He participated in the exhibition "Fair Skies" at the Ajyal Gallery of Art at Art Dubai, the "They Welcomed Us with Flowers" exhibition at Bastakiya Art Fair in Dubai, the "My Homeland" exhibition at Art Sawa Gallery in Dubai, and the exhibition "Beyond the War: Contemporary Iraqi Artists of the Diaspora" at LTHM New York.
2011 He participated in the exhibition "Art in Iraq Today" at Meem Gallery in Dubai and the Beirut Exhibition Center in Beirut.
2012 He participated in the exhibition "Fair Skies - Twenty-Five Years of Arab Creativity" at the Arab World Institute in Paris.
2013 He participated in the exhibition "Contemporary Arab Art: How do you sleep at night?" at Meem Gallery at Art Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the exhibition "Fair Skies - Twenty-five Years of Arab Creativity" at the Bahrain National Museum in Manama, the exhibition "The Cubes - Hajj: The Journey through Art" at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha and the "Dress Code" exhibition at Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation in Abu Dhabi and the exhibition "Confucianism" at the Katara Art Center in Doha.
2014 He participated in the exhibition "The Replacement" at Meem Gallery in Dubai and the Contemporary Art Platform in Kuwait City.
2015 He participated in the 56th Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy.
2016 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Fragments" at the Qatar Museums Gallery, Katara in Doha and a solo exhibition entitled "Baghdad Manifesto" at Saatchi Gallery in London, United Kingdom, and participated in the exhibition "Fair Skies" at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha.
2017 He participated in the exhibition "Compact Home" of the British Museum's Group Show and the 57th Venice Biennale.
2019 – 2020 He participated in an exhibition "Objects of Imagination – Contemporary Arab Ceramics" in Jordan National Museum Gallery with the participation of forty Arab artists from different Arab countries in Amman.
He lives and works full-time in art and has a studio in Toronto - Canada, Amman - Jordan, Beirut - Lebanon and Doha - Qatar.
