1961 Artist Makki Omran was born in Babylon, Iraq.
1968-1978 He completed his primary, middle and secondary school studies.
1978 - 1982 / 1983 He studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad and obtained a BA in Fine Arts and Painting.
1982 He participated in the Arab Youth Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
1983 He participated in the Arab Youth Exhibition in Saudi Arabia and the "The Impact of the Arabic Language on Human Civilization" exhibition at the universities of the Arab Gulf states in Kuwait.
1985 He participated in the first plastic art exhibition on the occasion of the International Year of Youth in Baghdad and the exhibition "Creative Experiences in Contemporary Iraqi Art" at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
1986 He participated in the First International Baghdad Biennale in Baghdad.
1988 - 1989 He studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad, and obtained a master’s degree in plastic arts and painting. The subject of his thesis was on "Artistic Techniques Used in Contemporary Iraqi Oil Painting."
1988 He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at Saddam Art Center in Baghdad.
1990 He worked as an assistant teacher in the Faculty of Art Education at the University of Kufa and participated in the exhibition Glimpses of Contemporary Iraqi Art.
1993 He was awarded the title of teacher and participated in the exhibition of contemporary Iraqi art at Alia Hall in Amman, Jordan.
1995 He held his first solo exhibition at Hiwar Art Gallery in Baghdad.
1996 He received the title of assistant professor.
1998 He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition in Sudan and the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at the Arab World Institute in Paris, France.
1999 - 2000 He obtained a PhD in Philosophy of Art - Aesthetic Theories and the subject of his dissertation was on "Aesthetics of Place in Contemporary Iraqi Painting".
2000 He participated in the exhibition of Nanorta gallery in Lattakia, Syria, and the exhibition "Selections of Contemporary Arab Art" in cooperation with Nanorta gallery in Beirut, Lebanon.
2001 He held his second solo exhibition at Dar Al Anda in Amman, and participated in the exhibition "Selections from Contemporary Arab Art" at Al-Orfali Hall in Amman.
2002 He was awarded the title of Professor of Art and participated in the "Anthology" exhibition at Al-Orfali Hall, Dar Al-Anda, and Orient Gallery in Amman, the Third International Biennale of Baghdad, and the Exhibition "Iraqi Travels - Creative Experiences in Contemporary Iraqi Art."
2003 He participated in the first Freedom Festival in Babylon.
2004 He became a member of the Central Scientific Promotion Committee at Babylon University and participated in the Iraqi Art Exhibition at the Fine Artists Association in Damascus and Aleppo, Syria, the Contemporary Art exhibition in Erbil, and the Professors of the Faculty of Fine Arts exhibition at the University of Babylon.
2005 He founded and headed the Environmental Art Association, and was appointed editor-in-chief of Nabu Magazine at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon. He participated in the exhibition of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate in Babel, an exhibition "Selections from Contemporary Iraqi Art" at Hiwar Hall in Baghdad.
2006 He participated in Al-Wasiti Festival in Wasit.
2007 He participated in the Iraqi Art Exhibition at the UNESCO Palace in Paris, France and Baghdad, the exhibition "Scenes from the City of Al-Hilla Al-Fayhaa" at the Environmental Art Association in Babylon and the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Artists Association in Baghdad.
2008 He participated in the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition in Amman.
2013 He participated in the exhibition "Iraqi Spaces", which is the joint annual plastic exhibition held at the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association in Baghdad, and participated in the first Arab Plastic Art Festival at Ishtar Hall in the National Library in Amman.
2015 He participated in the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association in Baghdad.
2016 He participated in the exhibition "Iraqi Painters" of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association and the Lebanese Association of Painting and Sculpture in Beirut and the annual retrospective exhibition at the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association in Baghdad.
2017 He participated in the exhibition "Babylonian Art in Baghdad" at the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association in Baghdad.
2018 He participated in the annual exhibition of the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association in Baghdad.
2019 He participated in the exhibition "Contemporary Artists from Iraq" at Ras Al-Ain Gallery in Amman.
He lives and works as a professor of plastic arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Babylon.
